Wellness Wednesday: Get decked out for spring cycling season

The black, white and red, brand-compliant jerseys are available in short-sleeve, long-sleeve, tank tops and cycling bibs. Shorts also are available.

As spring nears, a variety of cycling events loom. UNMC riders have participated in events such as the Corporate Challenge and the Bike for Sight. And of course, UNMC is a sponsor of the OwL Ride, a fund-raiser for the Meyer Foundation for Disabilities — this year’s ride is set for July 12.

Upcoming cycling event dates include:

• Bike for Sight: Saturday, April 26 in Omaha.
• Rollin’ to Colon: Sunday, June 15 in Valley, Neb.
• Corporate Cycling Challenge: Sunday, Aug. 17 in Omaha.

Team captain Nichole Gallardo also is looking for bicycle riders to join the UNMC team in the American Diabetes Association’s Tour de Cure on May 31. Riders must raise a minimum of $200 to join the event, which involves a 10-, 20- or 50-mile bike ride. Riders who raise $500 in funds also receive a gift such as a Tour de Cure cycling jersey.

There are sample jerseys available for checking sizes at the Center for Healthy Living.
