Lookin’ at U – Tami Howell

Tami Howell

Each Thursday, we randomly feature a medical center employee. This week, we learn more about Tami Howell of Environmental Services.

  • Name: Tami Howell
  • Hometown: Council Bluffs, Iowa
  • No. of years at UNMC: Three

Tell us a bit about what you do here at UNMC:
I work in EVS and am stationed at the Sorrell Center. I am also on call to several other buildings during the day.

“Working together” is one of UNMC’s brand values. Tell us of a time you witnessed a person or group “working together” at UNMC.
Recently, UNMC started a new recycling program involving the recycling of plastic and aluminum products. I and several other people have welcomed this new program and have been working together to implement it. Personally, I really like how the green bins are more conveniently located and that there are now more types of plastic and aluminum products that can be recycled. It makes me feel good to be a part of this team effort because it not only positively impacts the campus, but also the community.

What is your favorite winter activity?
I enjoy Christmas movies and spending time with my family.

List three things people may not know about you.

  • My favorite movie of all time is “The Last of the Dogmen,” starring Tom Berenger.
  • My favorite TV show is “Downton Abbey” on Nebraska Public Television. I cannot wait for season four to start.
  • I often rearrange the furniture in my home. I get that from my mother.

Lori worked in the Orthopaedic Clinic prior to transferring to day shift and the Sorrell Center. I always looked forward to her smile and positive attitude at the end of a long day. She has been missed by myself and the Orthopedic Clinic.
