Each Thursday, we randomly feature a medical center employee. This week, we learn more about:
- Name: Mallory Car
- Hometown: Omaha
- No. of years at UNMC: Eight months
Tell us a bit about what you do here at UNMC.
I work as the project communication coordinator for the Fred & Pamela Buffett Cancer Center and Ambulatory Care projects. As a joint employee between UNMC and The Nebraska Medical Center, I am involved in internal and external communication surrounding these projects: brand guidelines, communication strategy, project updates, construction notices, sponsorships and events, patient family advisory councils, and website updates and development.
“Working together” is one of UNMC’s brand values. Tell us of a time you witnessed an example of people working together at UNMC.
The Fred & Pamela Buffett Cancer Center is a joint project between UNMC, The Nebraska Medical Center and the University of Nebraska Foundation so I witness collaboration enterprise-wide on a daily basis. Partnership is a key component of this project. Doctors, architects, facilities personnel, fundraisers, marketing and PR have all come together to ensure this project is a success.
What is your favorite winter activity?
Watching my DVR in the comfort of my sweatpants.
List three things people may not know about you.
- I studied abroad in Florence, Italy, during college, and it changed my world.
- I have a cat named Dexter who is more destructive than any dog I know.
- I still have two baby teeth that are fully functional.
Love this girl!
Welcome Mallory!
