What sparked your interest in nursing?
I was a medic in the Army National Guard for seven years. After being laid off from a job as an electrician, I realized that out of all my jobs, I enjoyed the medical field the most and found it the most interesting, so I decided to go back to school. I found nursing appealing because there are so many different areas that you can go into. Being a little older than most of my classmates, and doing a career change, job security was a factor for me too.
Your favorite study snack is:
I’m not much of a snacker but was munching on dried apricots today.
Your favorite app is:
I don’t really use apps either — I’m kind of old school. TuneIn Radio is a pretty good one though.
Three things people may not know about you:
- One of my favorite things to do is hang out with friends and have a BBQ.
- I love animals and once did an internship at the Henry Doorly Zoo working in the Lied Jungle.
- I lived in Albuquerque, N.M., for three years.
Welcome aboard….and many thanks for your service to our country!

Excellent career choice. The Nebraska Action Coalition-Future of Nursing is interested in forming a chapter of the American Association of Men in Nursing. Males are considered a minority within the profession. In Nebraska just 4.5% of nurses are mail. Contact me info@neactioncoalition.org
