Irving Zucker, Ph.D., is the interim editor-in-chief of the American Journal of Physiology Heart and Circulatory Physiology, effective Dec. 1.

The American Journal of Physiology – Heart and Circulatory Physiology publishes original investigations on the physiology of the heart, blood vessels and lymphatics, including experimental and theoretical studies of cardiovascular function at all levels of organization ranging from the intact animal to the cellular, subcellular and molecular levels.

It embraces new descriptions of these functions and of their control systems, as well as their bases in biochemistry, biophysics, genetics and cell biology.

Dr. Zucker is the Theodore F. Hubbard Professor of Cardiovascular Research and chairperson of the department of cellular and integrative physiology. He also is a professor in the department of internal medicine’s division of cardiology.

He has served on several national, regional and local committees for research organizations. He also has served on various review panels.

Among several leadership positions, Dr. Zucker was a member of the Council for the Society for Experimental Biology and Medicine from 1998 to 2002, as well as the founder and first president of the Nebraska Physiological Society.
