Charles Shuler, D.M.D., Ph.D., a finalist to become the dean of the UNMC College of Dentistry, will visit the Omaha campus today.
He will visit the College of Dentistry in Lincoln on Tuesday.

He earned his D.M.D. from Harvard University School of Dental Medicine and followed with a fellowship at the Royal Dental College in Copenhagen, Denmark. He completed a specialty residency in oral pathology at the University of Minnesota.
He was a postdoctoral fellow at The University of Chicago, where he earned his Ph.D.
Dr. Shuler is an accomplished researcher, author, teacher and administrator with multiple professional recognitions. Special interests include craniofacial development, oral carcinogenesis and gene therapy.
He is a former director of the craniofacial biology graduate program and former associate dean of student and academic affairs at the University of Southern California. He also was a faculty member at The Ohio State University College of Dentistry.
He has been dean at the University of British Columbia since 2007.
Two other finalists for the position will visit UNMC later this month.
Janet Guthmiller, D.D.S., associate dean, academic affairs, and professor in the department of periodontology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Dentistry, will be on the Omaha campus on Dec. 11 and at the College of Dentistry in Lincoln on Dec. 12.
Scott De Rossi, D.M.D., professor and chair, department of oral health and diagnostic sciences at Georgia Regents University College of Dental Medicine, will be at the College of Dentistry in Lincoln on Dec. 17 and on the Omaha campus on Dec. 18.
There are no public presentations scheduled for the candidates’ visits.
John Reinhardt, D.D.S., who has served as dean of the UNMC College of Dentistry for 13 years, announced in June that he will step down from his post on June 30, 2014.
