How I fell in love with molecular biology:
Since my first biology course in high school, I’ve been interested in how a cell regulates which genes are expressed. In graduate school, I focused on this process during normal development. During this time, my father was diagnosed with leukemia. This prompted me to apply my scientific interests to a disease that has personal importance to me.

Three things people may not know about you:

  • I like to do anything crafty — I knit and crochet, and I’m learning to sew.
  • I love to travel and visit friends and family.
  • I played one of the leads in my high school musical.
