For the upcoming spring semester, the University of Nebraska at Omaha will once again be offering classes from Jan. 13 to May 9 on the UNMC campus.
Classes being offered include:
ENGL 3000-802: Writing for the Workplace
- Mondays, 5 to 7:50 p.m.
- Bennett Hall, Room 2020
- Students will learn to write polished, professional communications that are audience-oriented and professionally readable. “Writing for the Workplace” is a special topics course that meets the third writing requirement for UNO and other colleges/universities. To register requires ENGL 1160 (English Composition II) or equivalent, UNO placement exam overriding ENGL 1160, or permission of the instructor (3 credits).
HIST 1110-802: American History to 1865
- Wednesdays, 5 to 7:50 p.m.
- Bennett Hall, Room 2020
- The course will study the history of the creation and development of the United States from the beginning of English colonization to the end of the American Civil War. HIST 1110 is a course that meets the Humanities/Fine Arts general education requirement at UNO. There are no prerequisites (3 credits).
WRWS 2050-802: Fundamentals of Fiction Writing
- Tuesdays, 5 to 7:50 p.m.
- Bennett Hall, Room 2020
- The course provides a study of the ways in which the writer confronts the technical choices of his craft. The course introduces the student to the major elements of a piece of fiction in order to increase critical awareness both as reader and writer and prepare for work in succeeding fiction studios. Prerequisite: ENGL 1160 (English Composition II) (3 credits).
SPAN 2120-802: Intermediate Spanish II
- Thursdays, 5:30 to 8:10 p.m.
- Bennett Hall, Room 2020
- The course will review grammar, continue oral practice and introduce writing and literary readings. To register requires completion of SPAN 2110 with a grade of C- or better, or placement by department diagnostic exam (3 credits).
Full-time, regular employees can take advantage of the Employee Scholarship program, which allows employees to take up to 15 credit hours per academic year at any University of Nebraska campus.
To register for any of these classes, employees must be enrolled at UNO. To enroll, fill out an application.
