Whether for a current employee or a prospective one, a career at UNMC is stimulating and influential.

To illustrate that, Human Resources and Public Relations, with the professional guidance of David Day Associates, developed a new employment recruitment campaign that was implemented last month.

The campaign’s theme centers on “taking your next step at UNMC” and loving your job “every step of the way.”

“Stepping” implies positive forward motion, energy, impact and growth (personal, professional, organizational and communitywide).
The campaign ties to the internal Vital Campaign — “Every Step at UNMC is Vital” — to the organization, to the greater community, to personal growth and to breakthroughs for life.

The approach will emphasize the values associated with the UNMC branding initiative:

  • Leadership.
  • Commitment to excellence.
  • Trusted resource.
  • Teamwork.

To keep the campaign memorable and consistent, four distinct action steps were developed that bring the “Step into your career at UNMC” campaign messages to life:

  • Step in: We are a trusted resource helping people take groundbreaking steps every day. Learn, grow and make a difference by taking your next step with UNMC.
  • Step out: We are committed to excellence in everything we do to better lives in Nebraska and beyond. Your part in the bigger picture begins with one step to UNMC.
  • Step forward: We work together to improve quality of life. Walk in step with an inspiring team of leaders in medicine, research and education at UNMC.
  • Step up: We are leaders in our community. Follow in the footsteps of compassionate, hardworking people to make the most of your strengths at UNMC.

As was the case with the “I work here – maybe you should too” recruitment theme, the Step campaign will be oriented toward not only external recruits, but also those already employed at UNMC. The goal will be to reinforce the value and opportunities associated with a career at UNMC.
