Be alert: Phishing attempt – Your mailbox is almost full

Some UNMC employees and students are receiving emails indicating “Your mailbox is almost full” which looks very much like the campus email informing you about your email quota. However, this phishing email contains a link “to request for additional storage.”

This is a phishing scheme – don’t take the bait.

UNMC ITS will never send emails asking you to click on a link to request for additional storage or to verify your account information. These are phony phishing messages that may contain links to websites that are infected with malware.

If you receive one of these phishing emails, please delete the email immediately. If you responded to the email, then please change your password immediately by going to the password reset page.

For more information on recognizing phishing emails visit the ITS Website or Microsoft. Call the UNMC ITS Helpdesk at 559-7700 if you have additional questions.
