Sen. Dubas, whose website lists her as a farmer and rancher, spoke with Rodney Markin, M.D., Ph.D., and Mandi Constantine, Ph.D., on telehealth issues. She also toured the clinical simulation lab in the Sorrell Center, where Patti Carstens, program manager, presented and explained the technology used in medical simulation.
We asked her:
What impressed you most during your visit to UNMC?
Sen. Dubas said she was impressed by the level of professionalism and training she’d seen during her visit.
“It’s so eye-opening to see this level of training and to see how real it can be for the students,” she said. “It was a treat for me to see this type of training in action.
“That those professionals are going out across Nebraska is comforting and encouraging information, not only for me but for the entire state of Nebraska,” she said. She said she was pleased “to see this level of training, and that we’re actually keeping these people in Nebraska.”
What would you like the UNMC community to know about you?
“I am committed to supporting and promoting the work that the med center is doing. It’s becoming more and more evident to me as I continue to learn about the med center, just how important this is — not just to the economy of our state, but to the overall health and well-being of the citizens across this state. I would do everything in my power to promote all of the great things that go on at the med center. We need to be partnering and supporting the efforts of the med center.”
