A trio of free events mark the beginning of October at UNMC. Among the upcoming activities:
UNMC Physicians open house today
The UNMC Physicians Family Medicine and Orthopaedics Clinics at the Oakview Medical Building on 144th and Center streets have undergone a renovation and added radiology services to clinic workflow.
Med Center employees are invited to an open house this evening, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the renovated building.
Light appetizers will be offered, and there will be giveaways, including a chance at a pair of Husker football tickets.
The building is located at 2727 S. 144th St.
Music as Medicine begins Oct. 10
Susie Thorne and Friends will kick off this year’s slate of Music as Medicine lunchtime performances on Oct. 10.
Thorne is a Hastings native who studied piano performance at the University of Colorado at Denver and vocal studies at the Academy of Vocal Arts in Boulder, Colo., and the University of Nebraska at Omaha.
The performance begins at noon and runs until 1 p.m. at the Durham Outpatient Center’s west atrium.
Also on tap for this season are the Omaha Chamber Music Society, the Burt Street Individuals and performers from Omaha’s Central High School. See the complete Music as Medicine season series here.
Music as Medicine concerts are free. Patients and families, staff, students and the community are invited to bring lunch and enjoy the concerts, sponsored by UNMC’s Office of the Chancellor.
Fitness Friday returns Oct. 11
Come join the fun – or maybe the run — Oct. 11 for Fitness Friday on the Field Club Trail. All walkers, joggers, and runners are encouraged to come.
The group will meet at 11:45 a.m. on the Scott Student Plaza ice rink and head over to the Field Club Trail. The Field Club Trail is 1.8 miles long and is just south of Leavenworth Street.
