United Way, Day 10: Why I’m a supporter

UNMC is currently taking part in the 2013 United Way Campaign. Each week during the campaign, we will feature a member of the UNMC community who is a United Way supporter.

Today, we meet:

The running total As of 3 p.m. Tuesday, UNMC achieved: Donations of $99,900, more than 64 percent of the campaign goal of $156,000. Employee participation of 30 percent. Last year, there was 42 percent participation — that should be an easy number to break. Remember, using the UNMC eServ website to choose not to donate counts as participation!

I support the United Way because:
Why would I not? This is the community where I live, work and play. What I donate to the United Way goes to help fund programs for many agencies that offer help to everyone from the neighbor next door to families across town. At UNMC, we are used to helping people, so this is just another natural way to do so.
