Tell us a bit about what you do here at UNMC.
I am the assistant controller in business and finance and supervise the general accounting and cashiering/accounts receivable departments. Our team provides customer service to users of SAP (the University’s accounting system) across all departments. Additionally, we prepare the financial statements for the UNMC campus. This is a process that takes almost two months to complete!
“Commitment to excellence” is one of UNMC’s brand values. Tell us of a time you witnessed excellence at work at UNMC.
My involvement in establishing the accounts receivable system allowed me to work on a team that reached across multiple functional areas on campus. It was great to work with dedicated professionals who desire to continuously improve. We all didn’t speak “accounting,” but the willingness to comprehend and learn from one another led to the successful creation of an accounts receivable system for our campus.
What is your favorite fall activity?
Preparing campus financial statements! Really, golfing in the fall is the best. The courses are in great shape and the cool weather allows for my family and I to enjoy walking while golfing.
