  • Performed 140 peripheral stem cell transplants and 8 bone marrow transplants in  2012.

  • Performed 14,124 endoscopies and 9,460 echoes in FY 2012-13.

  • M1/M2 = 1,174 total contact hours = 19 percent of M1/M2 curriculum
  • M3/M4 + 647 student/months = 31 percent of M3/M4 curriculum
  • M3 clerkship rated No. 1 by junior students the past 13 years on the College of Medicine Student Evaluation Survey.
  • Clinical department ranked No. 1 by senior students for the past 16 years on the Association of American Medical Colleges Survey.
  • Students score 1/2 standard deviation above national average on the National Board of Medical Examiners Shelf Exam.
  • Number of Enhanced Medical Education Track (EMET) students = 28 (38 percent of total COM EMET students).
  • Highest resident ABIM pass rate nationally = 99.8 percent over the past 15 years.
  • Scores on ABIM and In-Service Exam in top 10 percent nationally
  • Maintained a Student Undergraduate Research Program (SURP) in which approximately 20 students had a summer research experience with both laboratory and clinical outcomes principal investigators (PIs).

  • Peer-reviewed manuscripts = 26 publications + 25 book chapters

Recent highlights:

  • Certification of the Midtown Resident Continuity Clinic as a Patient-Centered Medical Home by the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA).
  • Developed new programs in:

    • Adult congenital heart disease
    • Systemic Lupus Erythematosus
    • Neuro-Oncology
  • Developed a comprehensive TeleHealth-based program for diabetes care in the Hastings, Neb., area.
  • Opened the Village Pointe Endoscopy Center in a joint venture with The Nebraska Medical Center.
