Timothy Baxter, M.D., to speak on aortic aneurysms

B. Timothy Baxter, M.D., professor of vascular surgery, will speak at 7 a.m. Wednesday on the subject of “Contemporary Research and Treatment on Aortic Aneurysms.” The presentation is part of the department of cardiothoracic surgery’s new schedule of grand rounds.

Michael Moulton, M.D., professor and chief of cardiothoracic surgery, gave the year’s first presentation on Aug. 7, on the subject “Management of Thoracoabdominal Aortic Aneurysm.”

“Grand rounds allow us to learn about the latest developments and most up to date thinking in cardiac and thoracic surgery,” said Dr. Moulton. “We hear from outside speakers who are established experts in the field. For example, Dr. Baxter is a nationally known expert in aortic aneurysms – both clinically and from a research standpoint – and we are hearing him speak this week.”

Presentations, which will continue through June, are held in room 2018 of the Sorrell Center. For a complete schedule of topics, click here.

“Grand rounds gives an opportunity for every member of the CT division to come together and hear the same information,” Dr. Moulton said. “It almost invariably starts debate among faculty and other health care providers in our group – a very healthy way to make sure that our beliefs are grounded in science.”
