- Name: Ed Hanlon
- Hometown: Lincoln
- No. of years at UNMC: Three months
Tell us a bit about what you do here at UNMC.
As a hardware technician, I troubleshoot computer and printer problems at the College of Dentistry. I also assist with computer or software questions people may have.
Commitment to excellence is one of UNMC’s brand values. Tell us of a time you witnessed a commitment to excellence at UNMC.
I haven’t been with the College of Dentistry for very long, but during the short amount of time I have been here I have witnessed how UNMC helps Nebraskans through programs such as Western Dental Days and the upcoming Nebraska Mission of Mercy.
With summer winding down, what activities are you looking forward to still doing before fall?
I love to barbecue, so I will hopefully find time to smoke some more ribs and brisket. I also have a 3-year-old, Xander, who loves to swim; I will be outside with him in the pool until it gets too cold.
List three things people may not know about you.
- I hold an annual event called EdFest, on the same weekend as RibFest, where I smoke a lot of meat. This year I smoked five racks of ribs, two pork butts, two chickens and a full brisket.
- I like to sing karaoke, and I met my wife while singing karaoke.
- My dad owns a fishing tackle business, Flatlander Lures. Every year we go to sports shows in Topeka, Kansas; Des Moines, Iowa and Seward, Neb.
Ed — how can I get invited to EdFest?— SOUNDS DELICIOUS AND FUN
