A farewell reception for Ayman El-Mohandes, M.B.B.Ch., M.D., M.P.H., dean of UNMC’s College of Public Health, will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 14. A short program will be held at 3 p.m.
The reception will be held in the third floor commons area of the Maurer Center for Public Health. Dr. El-Mohandes, who came to UNMC in 2009, will be dean of the School of Public Health at the City University of New York (CUNY). His last day at UNMC will be Aug. 31.
In his new position, he will lead a public health school that is firmly rooted in the urban environment. The school is spread throughout four campuses in three of the five boroughs of New York City. With 285,000 students, CUNY is one of the largest urban universities in the world, Dr. El-Mohandes said.
