William Chaney, Ph.D., biochemistry and molecular biology, has assumed the chairmanship of the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee. Thomas Rosenquist, Ph.D., former vice chancellor for research, will serve as vice chair. Ernest Prentice, Ph.D., said Thursday that, “Together, these two individuals will provide the leadership that our investigators need in dealing with the complex regulatory requirements that currently govern research involving animals.”

Joseph Evans, Ph.D., has been named associate clinical director of the Behavioral Health Education Center of Nebraska (BHECN). Dr. Evans is professor and director of the psychology department at the Munroe-Meyer Institute and division director of pediatric psychology for the College of Medicine. The position previously was held by Michael Rice, Ph.D., a professor and psychiatric nurse practitioner at UNMC’s College of Nursing, who recently accepted a position as professor and endowed chair at the College of Nursing on the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus in Denver. BHECN was established in 2009 by LB 603 to support the recruitment, retention and increased education and training of the behavioral health workforce in Nebraska as well as provide statewide access to behavioral health providers.
