The groundbreaking for the new College of Pharmacy building will be held on June 13.
UNMC faculty, staff and students are invited to attend the event, which will mark a new era of pharmacy education and research at UNMC.
Scheduled speakers include UNMC Chancellor Harold M. Maurer, M.D., Gov. Dave Heineman, Omaha Mayor-elect Jean Stothert, University of Nebraska President James B. Milliken, College of Pharmacy Dean Courtney Fletcher, Pharm.D., and others.
The $35 million project will completely replace and expand the now outdated education space of the College of Pharmacy and increase its research capacity with a new 85,000-square-foot facility on the UNMC campus.
Construction is expected to begin in February 2014, with projected completion set for July 2015.
The event will be held at 10:30 a.m. on the Scott Student Plaza.
