Physicians and clinical staff are invited to attend “Creating a Culture of Wellness in Healthcare Settings,” at the Lied Lodge and Conference Center, Nebraska City, on May 17-18.
The conference will focus on physical activity, nutrition and stress management as methods of enhancing wellness. Ten continuing education credits will be available for physicians, nurses, medical assistants, social workers, physical therapists and occupational therapists.
Attendees will learn new strategies, resources and patient counseling techniques to improve wellness outcomes for physicians, clinical staff and patients.
“I think it’s a message that should be heard,” said Audrey Paulman, M.D., family medicine. “Integrated lifestyle medicine needs more awareness. This will be an educational and interactive conference that will provide participants with tools they can use in their own practice.”
Keynote speaker will be Edward Phillips, M.D., director of the Harvard Institute of Lifestyle Medicine and co-author of “Exercise is Medicine.” Other speakers include Jeremy Lazarus, M.D., president of the American Medical Association, and Matt Davison, former Husker athlete and current Husker broadcaster.
Conference attendees are encouraged to bring their families for the weekend. There will be a variety of wellness activities offered, including family zumba, tai chi, yoga, a morning adventure challenge and a tree house adventure excursion.
The conference is a collaboration of the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services, the Nebraska Medical Association, and numerous other partners and sponsors.
