The greatest time of need at the Food Bank of the Heartland is the spring. The annual campus food drive began April 22 and will run through May 10.
Blue barrels have been placed throughout campus for the drive. According to the Food Bank, food items always in demand include:
- Macaroni and cheese;
- Peanut butter;
- Canned meats;
- Canned fruit; and
- Green beans.
Blue food barrels can be found in the following campus buildings:
- Maurer Center for Public Health;
- 4230 Building;
- Munroe-Meyer Institute;
- Durham Research Center Atrium;
- Center for Healthy Living – second floor; and
- Sorrell Center.
