With Earth Week scheduled for April 15 through 19, UNMC LiveGreen and The Nebraska Medical Center’s Energy Advocates are hosting a series of collections to help you rid your house of recyclable items.
On Thursday, April 18, there will be an eyeglasses and alkaline-only (AA, AAA, A-D and 9-V) battery collection with drop-off locations throughout campus as well as at Culturefest. The eyeglasses will be donated to Lion’s Eye Bank and the batteries will be ecologically recycled.
On Friday, April 19, a household electronics collection, along with confidential paper shredding, will be offered by General Supply from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Recovery Room parking lot near 41st and Leavenworth streets. Collected e-waste items will be safely recycled or remanufactured.
For a list of what e-recycle items can be dropped off for free, what items require a small fee and what items cannot be recycled by General Supply, click here. More details will be announced next week.
