On March 4, a new sign will be displayed in pediatrics at the Durham Outpatient Center. That’s when Children’s Hospital & Medical Center will publically announce a shift in management of the clinic after patients receive notification in the mail.
Employees at the clinic will now be managed by Children’s Physicians, a Children’s Hospital & Medical Center entity. The new sign will also carry the Children’s Physicians name. The five pediatricians will remain part of Children’s Specialty Physicians.
“The transition is a continuation of the College of Medicine’s collaborative relationship with Children’s Hospital & Medical Center and the establishment of Children’s Specialty Physicians. The goal is to more closely coordinate pediatric care across the region, which will in turn improve the quality of care that we are able to provide,” said Dean Bradley Britigan, M.D.
Employees in the clinic transitioned employment to Children’s Physicians on Jan. 1, 2013.
“This group of employees has done a tremendous job in caring for children,” said Cory Shaw, CEO, UNMC Physicians. “Families in our community have looked to the pediatrics clinic to meet the health care needs for their children and I’m sure that will continue to be the case in the future.”
Pediatrics at the Durham Outpatient Center is the second UNMC Physicians clinic to make the transition to Children’s Physicians. The Plattsmouth clinic transitioned its pediatrics program to Children’s Physicians in May 2012.
