Weekly eTip – Programs for shared projectsc

Question: What application would you suggest that would allow me and several of my colleagues so share files and information for a project without having to email files back and forth? We will be sharing Excel spreadsheets, Word documents, PowerPoint presentations, emails and web links.

Everyone should try using Microsoft OneNote, which is available for the PC. OneNote is a digital notebook that provides a single place where you can gather all of your notes and information, with the added benefits of powerful search capabilities. Unlike paper-based systems, word processing programs, e-mail systems, or other productivity programs, OneNote delivers the flexibility to gather and organize text, pictures, digital handwriting, audio and video recordings, and more – all in one digital notebook on your computer, network drive or “in the cloud.” (However UNMC project information should be stored on secure UNMC Network drives).

Learn how to use this powerful application in ITS’ OneNote Basics class on Wednesday from 1 to 3 p.m. in 8011 Wittson Hall. UNMC Employees and students can register online or by emailing csttrain@unmc.edu.
