  • Name: Mary Legg-Webber
  • Hometown: Glendale, Ariz.
  • No. of years at UNMC: Five months

Tell us a bit about what you do here at UNMC.

I am a Benefits Assistant in the Administration Building. I handle benefits enrollments for new employees including speaking at the New Employee Orientation (NEO) every month. I terminate benefits when employees find other employment opportunities. During the course of the day, I talk with employees about COBRA, reimbursement account claims, ID cards, retirement plans, and various benefits issues.

Working together is one of UNMC’s brand values. Tell us of a time you witnessed a person or group work together at UNMC.

NUFlex Enrollment happens every year around Thanksgiving. It is a busy time in the Benefits Office. Our team works together with the Benefit groups at all the campuses to prepare. During a few high volume times a co-worker from Employee Records stepped in and assisted employees who dropped by the office while we were busy helping others or talking on the phone. We were very appreciative of his help.

What is your favorite winter activity?

Ice skating. I am glad there is a rink at UNMC that allows me to fit in some exercise at lunch.

List three things people may not know about you.

  • I ride the bus to and from work.
  • I like to knit. I learned how when I lived in Sweden for a year as an exchange student.
  • I have more audio books loaded on my iPod than music.

Mary – I must have seen you ice skating yesterday at lunch. You are an elegant skater! (I was in the black and white check coat) Aren't we lucky to have a rink on our campus? Welcome to UNMC!
