Karen Honeycutt, assistant professor in the School of Allied Health Professions, has been named director of UNMC’s clinical laboratory science program, effective Feb. 2.

Honeycutt replaces Linda Fell, who is retiring after more than 20 years in the UNMC CLS program.
Honeycutt has been a member of the SAHP faculty since 1996, and has been instrumental in developing the CLS distance education curriculum.
She has been the CLS program’s associate director since 2006. She also has chaired the National Board of Certification Microbiology Examination Committee of the American Society for Clinical Pathology since 2009, and is past president of the UNMC faculty senate.
She is a UNMC alum and is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Educational Studies at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
