“Lisa” Ying Rong
  • Name: “Lisa” Ying Rong
  • Hometown: Shanghai
  • No. of years at UNMC: One year

Tell us a bit about what you do here at UNMC.

I am the office associate for UNMC’s Shanghai office. I work with UNMC visitors to Shanghai and to Tongji University. I also work in Tongji University School of Medicine International Cooperative Office. I have a bachelor’s degree in biology and an MBA from Tongji University. I like to combine medicine with business administration. Shanghai needs more translational outlets to help promote health care.

Being a trusted resource is one of UNMC’s brand values. Tell us of a time you witnessed a person or group act as a trusted resource at UNMC.

I witness the trusted resource brand value when UNMC staff members deliver their knowledge to our domestic land. An example is the Family Medicine Symposium at Tongji. They bring their knowledge. It will be very important for the development of family medicine in Shanghai.

What would you like people to know about your hometown?

Shanghai is a modern city, quite different from 20 years ago. Shanghai is gracious. The Shanghai people work hard to reach their goals.

List three things people may not know about you.

  • I’m a typical Shanghai girl.
  • I speak four languages — including French and Japanese — though not all fluently. I hope one day I can speak English like a native.
  • Traveling is a hobby. I hope to visit Paris and Barcelona. And Omaha is one of my destinations.
