Below is a list of achievements, activities and happenings involving UNMC staff, faculty and students.

Sue Barnason, Ph.D., a professor at the UNMC College of Nursing Lincoln Division, has been appointed to serve as the chair of the Complex Cardiovascular Patient and Family Care committee by the Council on Cardiovascular Nursing of the American Heart Association from July 2012 through July 2014. The goal of this committee is to address cardiovascular conditions in adults requiring advanced nursing knowledge and skills and to propose initiatives related to improving care. In addition, Dr. Barnason recently was inducted into the American Academy of Nursing.
Three students from the UNMC College of Nursing received Student Nurse Excellence Awards at the March of Dimes Excellence in Nursing Awards banquet. The students were:
- Lori Klein, Kearney Division;
- Heidi Noecker, Lincoln Division; and
- Elizabeth Tylander, Omaha campus.
Lufei Young, an assistant professor, at the Lincoln Division, was a nominee for the Excellence in Nursing Award.
