UNMC public ice skating rink to open Nov. 27

The University of Nebraska Medical Center will open its outdoor public skating rink on Tuesday, Nov. 27. The rink will be open through March 1.

The rink is located just east of 42nd Street midway between Emile Street and Dewey Avenue on the north side of the Michael F. Sorrell Center for Health Science Education building. The  rink features concessions, music and seasonal decorations.

Hours of operation are:

–Tuesday-Friday 11 a.m.-1 p.m., 4-8 p.m.;

–Saturday 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.;

–Sunday, Noon to 8 p.m.

Closed — Mondays, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day.

Regular admission, which includes skate rental, is $7 for individuals or $5 without skate rental. Cash or credit card only (no checks or debit cards).

Admission for UNMC and Clarkson College students is free with identification badge ($3 skate rental or $15 for seasonal skate rental). Cost for employees (and dependents who accompany them) of UNMC, UNMC-Physicians, The Nebraska Medical Center and Clarkson College (must present ID badge) is $5, including skates, or $30 season pass per person.

Free parking is available in lots along 40th St. between Dewey Ave. & Emile St. and in the lot along 41st St. between Emile & Leavenworth streets. Parking maps and more information are available at www.unmc.edu/skate.
