Below is a list of achievements, activities and happenings involving UNMC staff, faculty and students.
In recognition of Veteran’s Day, UNMC Student Services will have free bagels and coffee on Wednesday for medical center students who are activity duty military or military veterans. The goodies will be available in the Student Life Center, Room 2080 from 8 to 10 a.m.
UNMC students will host a bone marrow registration drive on Tuesday and Wednesday. People between the ages of 18 and 44 can attend one of two registration drives at UNMC. The drives are held in conjunction with Bone Marrow Awareness Month, which is November. Tuesday’s drive will be held from noon to 5 p.m. in the west atrium on the first floor of the Durham Outpatient Center. Wednesday’s drive will be held on the second floor of the Michael F. Sorrell Center for Health Science Education in the student lounge/commons area.
The College of Public Health’s Center for Reducing Health Disparities will once again participate in the local Toys for Tots campaign. The center is accepting applications from qualified families who would like to provide toys to their children this holiday season. The Physician Assistant program’s annual nut sale is underway. Items for sale include:
- Pecan halves;
- Special cashew halves;
- English toffee;
- Cranberry nut mix;
- Chocolate covered almonds;
- Chocolate covered peanuts;
- Chocolate covered raisins; and
- White frosted pretzels.
