Dan Teet

  • Name: Dan Teet
  • Hometown:Beatrice, Neb.
  • No. of years at UNMC:13

Tell us a bit about what you do here at UNMC.

I work in the office of Graduate Studies where I primarily coordinate the applications and admissions for all of the graduate programs on campus. I’m also the international student adviser for the campus and help international students with their visa paperwork and maintenance of their status while in the U.S. I answer questions from all over campus about international student and visa issues. Every spring, I work with the staff of International Health and Education Services to offer VITA tax assistance to our international student and scholar population. We help about 100 people every year.

Working together is one of UNMC’s brand values. Tell us of a time you witnessed a person or group working together at UNMC.

This past spring, I worked on a committee to develop a new online application system for students. There were representatives from several other UNMC departments including allied health, public health and dentistry, plus UNL and UNK representatives also. It was a fun experience and everyone brought great ideas to the table. We couldn’t have finished it without each and every member’s help.

What is your favorite Fall activity?

I love playing intramural volleyball at UNMC in the Fall.

List three things people may not know about you.

  • This year my wife Eleshia and I adopted three boys (siblings) ages 5, 2 and 1. I’m the second of four boys so my mom will have a blast watching me raise three of my own.
  • My best friend from childhood is a colleague here, Steve Daubendiek. We’ve known each other since kindergarten.
  • I have a 10-pound rubber band ball that’s been growing for the past 13 years. It’s about eight inches in diameter. And it bounces.

I have had the pleasure of working with Dan (mostly via e-mail) asking for assistance in how to work in PeopleSoft now that the department of Epidemiology has a new PhD program in the College of Public Health. He has a vast amount of knowledge regarding Grad Studies and his patience is limitless. Congratulations Dan on the new additions to your family. May you and your wife be blessed through the years to come.

Your specialized knowledge and experience are quite valuable. It's hard to believe that 18 years have passed already since those kindergarten days.
