Fifty-five members of the UNMC High School Alliance are among the students taking classes at UNMC.
The alliance students come from high schools around the Omaha area and take college-level classes at UNMC to prepare for health careers. Once each month, UNMC Today will profile an alliance student to let us get to know more about these young learners.

How did you get involved in the alliance?
During my sophomore year in high school, my school’s TAG strategist told me about the Alliance so I applied and ended up being put on the wait list. Then last year I reapplied and I was accepted.
What sparked your interest in science?
In fifth grade we had the chance to dissect deer hearts and since then I have always been interested in science. In the seventh grade I started watching the show, “House” and that is what got me interested in the health sciences.
What are your career aspirations?
I hope to work as a physician in the emergency room.
What has been the best part of your alliance experience?
The best part so far has been getting to start my infectious disease and pathology classes.
