Question: How do I view unread mail only? I used to do this all the time in Lotus Notes and can’t find it in Outlook.
Answer: On a PC should be able to see the “Unread” folder in the left navigation pane, usually toward the bottom of your folder list. If it is not showing, you can add it if you go to:
- In “Mail,” on the “Folder” tab, in the “New” group, click “New Search” folder. (Keyboard shortcut To create a new “Search Folder,” press CTRL+SHIFT+P).
- In the “Reading Mail” section, click “Unread Mail.”
- Click “OK.”
Another route
You also can click the folder you wish to search and click the “Filter E-mail” (looks like a funnel) icon on the far right of the “Home” tab and select “Unread.”
For Macs
On a Mac, you can click the folder to search and select “Filters” from the “Home” tab and select “Unread.” The unread folder does not appear in the task pane on a Mac.
The “Unread Mail” folder is available in Outlook Web Access, and you can also click “Filter” > “Unread mail.”
