UNMC administrator begins term as president of medical group

Lisa Runco, vice chair of finance and administration in the University of Nebraska Medical Center’s Department of Internal Medicine, recently began serving a one-year term as president of the Administrators of Internal Medicine (AIM).

AIM is a national organization of 435 business administrators in departments of internal medicine at medical schools and affiliated teaching hospitals in the United States and Canada. Accounting for approximately 200,000 of the nation’s 700,000 physicians, internal medicine is the largest, most diverse specialty in the United States.

A graduate of Westside High School, Runco earned her master's degree in public administration from the University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) in 1991 and her bachelor's degree in business administration from UNO, magna cum laude, in 1985. She has worked in various capacities at UNMC since 1991.

Runco has served in a variety of roles in the Medical Group Management Association since 1991 and has served as president of the Academic Practice Assembly and the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation Nebraska Chapter.
