UNMC for the record

Below is a list of achievements, activities and happenings involving UNMC staff, faculty and students.

The College of Medicine’s Family Medicine Interest Group (FMIG) was named one of 16 winners of the American Academy of Family Physicians 2012 Program of Excellence Award for its outstanding activities in generating interest in family medicine. FMIGs are medical school-sponsored organizations that give students a chance to learn more about family medicine through regular meetings, workshops, leadership development opportunities and community and clinical experiences.

UNMC’s hospital partner, The Nebraska Medical Center, achieved Magnet recognition for the second time from the American Nurses Credentialing Center. Magnet designation is given to organizations that demonstrate successful nursing practices and strategies. In order to meet Magnet criteria, the hospital had to demonstrate quality patient care, nursing excellence and the implementation of best practices. The redesignation is good for four years.

Dr. Mueting is Drug Use Review Director at the Nebraska Pharmacists Association, and has served as a preceptor to students from both UNMC and Creighton’s pharmacy schools. Dr. Mueting has been preceptor for more than 120 students over the past seven years.
