Below is a list of achievements, activities and happenings involving UNMC staff, faculty and students.

The UNMC Public Relations department received four awards at the Omaha Press Club’s Excellence in Journalism/PR event in June. The honorees were:

• Jo Giles was honored for the “Best Media Press Kit for the College of Public Health Grand Opening press kit;
  
• Liz Kumru received the award for the Best Feature Story in a Magazine for “AIDS A-Team” in UNMC Discover.
  
• Nicole Lindquist and Tom Waples received the “Best Annual Report” for the Munroe-Meyer Institute Annual Report; and
  
• Ryan Shaw received the award for “Best Web Site” for the UNMC website.

Henry St. Germain, D.M.D., associate professor and chair of the Department of Adult Restorative Dentistry, has assumed the role of president of the Nebraska Dental Association.

Pamela Carmines, Ph.D., professor and vice chairman for graduate education in the department of cellular and integrative physiology, has been named a fellow in the Hedwig van Ameringen Executive Leadership in Academic Medicine (ELAM) Program for Women at Drexel University College of Medicine. Dr. Carmines joins Vimla Band, Ph.D., professor and chairwoman of genetics, cell biology and anatomy, as UNMC faculty members who are in the fellowship program.
