- Build a statewide biomedical research infrastructure between undergraduate and graduate institutions; and
- Strengthen each undergraduate institution’s infrastructure and increase its capacity to conduct cutting-edge biomedical and behavioral research.

My parents sparked my interest in science, exposing me to owl pellet dissections and tiny microscopes since childhood. My interest in research, however, is due to my botany professor. He allowed me to assist in his research and introduced me to a career that I didn’t really know existed.
The potential to discover something that no one else knows is the thing that attracts me most strongly to this field. The world would be so boring if everything was already figured out. Assisting in the discovery of new information is the most exciting way to spend my time.
Regardless of what I choose to do, I know it will involve science. My goals are similar to most — to enjoy what I do and hopefully discover or create something that will improve our lives in some way.
