Those who hop on the trolley for today’s Durham Museum Gritty City Tour will get to see the site of Madam Anna Wilson’s former brothel at 10th and Douglas streets.
According to her Wikipedia site, “Omaha’s queen of the underworld” made enough money in her chosen profession to build the three-story, 25-room brothel, which she later bequeathed to the city to be used as an emergency hospital.
Learn about this and other “gritty” aspects of Omaha’s history during the tour, which starts at noon in front of the Durham Research Center.
The tour lasts about 75 minutes and costs $5. Seating is limited. Reservations must be made in advance. Contact unmcevents@unmc.edu to reserve your space. Attendees are asked to arrive 15 minutes early.
