Faculty and staff from the University of Nebraska Medical Center College of Dentistry will return to the Nebraska Panhandle June 1 and 2 to offer dental services, at no cost, to children in the region.
This is the 22nd Children’s Dental Day event since the college started holding them in 2001.
More than 200 children are expected to attend the two-day event that takes place in three Panhandle communities – Sidney, Chadron and Gordon. The children will receive a variety of services including cleanings, fluoride treatments, sealants, cavity fillings, extractions, education and emergency care as needed. Total cost of services provided is estimated at $100,000.
“For many of the children, we are their dentist. This is their annual check-up,” said David Brown, Ph.D., executive associate dean, UNMC College of Dentistry.
