Describe your research in laymen’s terms.
Respiratory consequences associated with farming-related exposures with focus on immune responses.
How do you want your research to translate to benefit patients?
I would want my research findings to lead to serious contributions to the understanding, prevention and treatment of respiratory diseases associated with agriculture-related respiratory diseases. Our lab aims to:
- Define the important agents within farming environmental settings responsible for respiratory disease such that these agents could be targeted and/or reduced.
- Discover novel prevention and therapeutic approaches to alleviate respiratory disease burden.
What is the best piece of advice anyone ever gave you, professional or personal?
Research is not a sprint, but a marathon.
List three things few people know about you.
- I was homecoming queen runner-up during my undergraduate years at University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
- I was a competitive gymnast until injuring my knee — anterior cruciate ligament — in junior high school.
- Before the blessings of having two wonderful children, I had hobbies like biking, craft making, piano playing and golfing.
