The School of Allied Health Professions recently held its Forum on Evidence-Based Medicine and annual awards ceremony and reception.
Teacher of the year
Stephane VanderMeulen, academic coordinator in the physician assistant education program, was named teacher of the year.
She was lauded for integrating her real-world clinical observations, and for her honest, thorough and eager approach to teaching.
Researcher of the year
Kathleen Volkman, assistant professor of physical therapy education, was named outstanding researcher of the year.
She noted the importance of collaboration and endurance in research, and presented a summary of her recent work.
Outstanding service
James Somers, Ph.D., retiring program director for the division of physician assistant education, was honored for outstanding service to the SAHP.
He had been with the program for 30 years, and served as director since 1991.
He received a standing ovation from the overflow crowd.
Congratulations to all three award recipients! Very deserving.
