Ramin Farzaneh-Far, M.D., who studies an emerging area of research in telomeres — the end piece of DNA — and how they relate to disease and aging, will present the annual Harman Lecture today at noon in the Durham Research Center Auditorium. The Harman Lecture is named for UNMC’s Denham Harman, M.D., Ph.D., the father of the Free Radical Theory on Aging.
More than $8,600 was raised during Bike for Sight last weekend in downtown Omaha. Proceeds from the charity bike ride, hosted by UNMC’s International Division of Ophthalmology, go to support a vision restoring cataract camp in Cap-Haitian, Haiti in May. In all, 330 riders participated in the event, which raised enough money to support 374 sight-restoring surgeries in Cap-Haitian. Watch a video from the event.
