The campus’ latest arboreal addition – an October Glory Maple – gets set into its new home today at 11:30 a.m. at 41st and Harney streets near parking lot No. 5 as part of a ceremony to kick off Earth Week at UNMC.

Compost starter kits and seed packets will be handed out to attendees while supplies last.
The ceremony is the first in a weeklong series of events to recognize Earth Week at UNMC.

October Glory Maple Trees:
- Are among the most common deciduous trees of eastern North America.
- Range from the border between Ontario and Minnesota, east to Newfoundland, south to Miami and back to the southwest into east Texas.
- Can grow to about 50 feet tall.
- Are known for the brilliant colors they display in the fall.
