Two new department chairmen have been named in the College of Medicine.
Steven Lisco, M.D., has accepted the position of chairman of the department of anesthesiology and Dwight Jones, M.D., has been named chairman of the otolaryngology-head and neck surgery department.
Dr. Lisco’s appointment is effective May 16 and Dr. Jones’ tenure begins on July 1.
About Dr. Lisco

Since 2004, Dr. Lisco has served on the faculty at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine and currently serves as director of three programs:
- Critical Care Services;
- Out-of-OR Anesthesiology; and
- The Critical Care Consult Service.
He completed his medical degree from Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine. After medical school, Dr. Lisco did his internal medicine residency at the University of Michigan Medical Center, his anesthesiology residency at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, and a critical care fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital.
A fellow of both the American College of Chest Physicians and the American College of Critical Care Medicine, Dr. Lisco’s research and clinical interests are in critical care medicine, bloodless medicine and management of anemia.
About Dr. Jones

Dr. Jones currently is associate professor of otology and laryngology for Harvard Medical School and a full-time member of the medical staff of Children’s Hospital Boston.
Dr. Jones — a 1983 graduate of the UNMC College of Medicine — has served on the Harvard faculty for nearly 24 years. A pediatric otolaryngologist, his areas of research and clinical expertise include sinonasal disorders, cystic fibrosis and tonsillectomy complications.
Dr. Jones did his internship and residency in general surgery at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, Kan. He then returned to UNMC to do his otolaryngology residency and served a year as chief resident before he did a pediatric fellowship at Children’s Hospital Boston.
