Tim Halperin, one of the top 12 male finalists in the 2011 American Idol Series, will be the featured performer at “An Evening of Music,” which will benefit pancreatic cancer research at the UNMC Eppley Cancer Center.

Where: Westside High School (87th and Pacific streets) in Omaha
Who: Halperin is a Westside High School graduate whose career took off after his appearance on American Idol last year. His debut album, “Rise and Fall,” opened at No. 1 on the iTunes Singer/Songwriter Chart, and No. 14 on the Billboard Heatseekers Chart.
The show also will feature songs by Omaha songwriter and playwright Karen Sokolof Javitch. Local performers will sing songs from Javitch’s new CD accompanied by Mannheim Steamroller’s Chuck Penington.
Tickets: Tickets cost $10 and can be purchased online or at the DECA office at Westside High School from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday through Friday. They also will be available at the door the night of the performance.
