Each Thursday, we randomly feature a medical center employee.
This week, we learn more about Don Dickmeyer, a construction project manager for Facilities Management and Planning.
Don Dickmeyer |
- Name: Don Dickmeyer
- Hometown: Arlington, Neb.
- Number of years at UNMC: 39
What is your best memory from your time at UNMC?
The people I’ve been able to work with, both within the facilities management department and the campus at large. Also, being a small part of seeing the campus grow from an educational institution to a major research and patient care center with facilities unmatched in the country.
Our four brand values are leadership, commitment to excellence, working together and being a trusted resource. Pick one and tell us a time you witnessed it embodied at UNMC.
I have seen the leadership grow with every change in the administration. Dr. Maurer’s leadership during the past 10 to 15 years will be hard to match.
List three things people may not know about you.
- I have seven grandkids, all of whom are active in both education and outside activities such as Tae-Kwon-Do, soccer, basketball, baseball, volleyball, etc.
- I was involved in youth sports for 15 years from coach and league director to president of the organizations.
- I am a collector of die-cast metal cars.
Don is a great person to work with and to know.
Don is one of the nicest and most helpful people I've ever met. For the past eight years Don has volunteered his time and materials to the Meyer Foundation for Disabilities Walk and Roll by making all of the event signage. I've worked closely with Don on this project and his assistance has saved the fundraiser hundreds of dollars over the years. The money saved can therefore be used to help provide much needed programs and services for our clients! Thanks, Don!
