The family of late state Sen. Dennis Utter visited UNMC on Monday to donate an honorarium that will benefit pulmonary research at the medical center. Utter, who was from Hastings, died in December after a battle with lung disease.
U.S. Rep. Lee Terry visited campus on Tuesday to speak to members of the student American Medical Association chapter meeting on Wednesday.
Earlier this month, the heart transplant team at UNMC’s hospital partner, The Nebraska Medical Center, performed its 100th transplant since the program’s reinstatement in 2005. Among the 100 heart transplants performed, two were double organ transplants (heart and liver, heart and kidney) and one was a triple organ transplant (heart, liver and bone marrow).
