My best memory at UNMC was when I was a student worker at the McGoogan Library of Medicine in 1999. I was a student at the University of Nebraska at Omaha and I needed a part-time job to earn a bit of money for gas and baubles. It was the encouragement of McGoogan librarians, especially Dr. Nancy Woelfl, that I furthered my education to become a librarian.

Yes, it is easy to Google for stuff and gets hundreds of hits, but is it trusted? With McGoogan, you don’t have to ask that question — we are a trusted resource. We have librarians whose training is to collect and purchase databases, e-journals, e-books, textbooks, review books, models, etc. in the areas that pertain to medicine, nursing, research, pharmacy, allied health and dentistry. Being a trusted resource is very important to us. We have a saying: “Don’t Just Google It, McGoogan It!”

- I am a wannabee marathoner and am in training. It is baby steps right now. Boston Marathon here I come!
- Heights and I are not friends. Going up the escalators at the Oakview Mall is scary. Laugh if you will, but boy, the knees quiver.
- If I wasn’t a librarian, I want to own a food truck and sell Thai tacos.
