Twice a year, UNMC Human Resources holds Learn@Lunch sessions to help employees develop within and outside of the workplace.
The spring sessions of Learn@Lunch will focus on conflict and difficult discussions in the workplace.
The first session, which will be held on March 20 at 11:30 a.m. in the Sorrell Center, Room 2018, will feature Executive Coach Susan Ann Koenig, J.D., and her presentation “Courageous Conversations: How to Say Everything You Wish You Didn’t Need To.”
At this session, learn:
- Five points of clarity that must precede every important conversation;
- How practicing a single sentence can make the toughest conversations easier; and
- Why words are not the most important part of preparing for big conversations.
The schedule for the remaining sessions is as follows:
- April 4 at 11:30 a.m. in the Sorrell Center, Room 1005 — Dr. Patrick Friman, director of clinical services at Boys Town, will present “Successfully Managing Conflict: Why Can’t We All Just Get Along?”
- May 3 at 11:30 a.m. in the Sorrell Center, Room 2018 — David Hubbard, J.D., Director, Facilitation and Training, The Mediation Center, will present “Navigating Difficult Conversations.”
The classroom size is limited to 80 people and registration is required. A boxed lunch will only be provided to participants who have registered to attend the session.
